MENA Women in Law (MENA WIL) is an association of women lawyers residing or practicing in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region. Established in early 2020 by influential women lawyers based in Qatar, MENA WIL operates as an independent, non-profit, and non-political entity, with over 300 members.
The primary objective of MENA WIL is to facilitate progressive and supportive discourse among women lawyers throughout the MENA region. Since its inception, the organization has utilized various platforms to achieve this goal. Initially, activities were conducted through a WhatsApp platform, with events transitioning from online formats, necessitated by the pandemic, to in-person gatherings since 2021.
MENA WIL is committed to advancing the professional interests of women within the legal sphere across all career stages, from students to seasoned professionals. Recognizing the evolving landscape influenced by the pandemic and the rapid emergence of new technologies, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), MENA WIL acknowledges the necessity for innovative approaches and increased collaboration and multidisciplinary engagement across industries.
In summary, MENA Women in Law is dedicated to promoting dialogue, fostering collaboration, and advocating for the professional development and well-being of women lawyers and women in general in the MENA region, while also addressing emerging challenges and opportunities.
MENA WIL has committed its vision to the SDGs, to support and promote opportunities for the deserved.
